Welcome to the official website of Abdiwali Gooni, a distinguished figure in Somali journalism, youth leadership, and public service. With over 14 years of experience in media and communications, Abdiwali is renowned for his commitment to journalistic integrity, community empowerment, and civic engagement.

Abdiwali holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from Cavendish University Uganda, and a Master’s degree in Security Studies & Criminology from Mount Kenya University. Fluent in Somali, Arabic, and English, he began his career as a freelance correspondent before assuming the role of Managing Director at Horseed Media, a leading Somali radio station and news website.

In 2011, Abdiwali was elected Coordinator of the National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ), where he played a pivotal role in advancing press freedom and media rights in Somalia. He furthered his impact as Executive Director of SOVOYODO, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Somali youth through education and leadership initiatives.

Abdiwali Gooni’s professional journey has also included significant roles such as Technical Advisor at Valiant Integrated Services, and National Coordinator of the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP), the largest global research initiative on gender in news media.

Currently, Abdiwali serves as the 1st Director of Communications at the Puntland House of Representatives, where he continues to advocate for transparency, public engagement, and the advancement of media professionalism.
